Chieftain Energy

Chieftain Energy was founded in 2014, with the goal of supplying the north with energy provided by Yukoners. A partnership between Air North, Yukon’s Airline, and First Nation development corporations—including Vuntut Gwitchin Limited Partnership, Na-Cho Nyak Dun Development Corporation, and Kluane Dana Shaw LP—Chieftain Energy exists to empower Northerners with greater control over their energy future.

The company provides safe, reliable, and affordable energy, while reinvesting in the community. It aims at establishing the foundation for a northern business to provide energy to northern residents, by northern residents. They provide fueling services for all aircraft that land at the Erik Nielsen Whitehorse International Airport, plus they provide commercial services to locals with fuel for heating their homes.
